Alex's Lawn Service

Services

Everything we do —in plain English.

We’ll quote any of these on-site. The price you get is the price you pay — no surprise add-ons, no upsells.

  • Weekly Mowing

Same morning every week. St. Augustine cut high in the Baytown heat, Bermuda kept tight — front, back, side, edged, blown clean.

Weekly is the right cadence on the Baytown side of the bay — Gulf humidity makes turf jump between visits, and skipping a week on St. Augustine means you cut off too much green and stress the grass into brown patch. I run sharp blades, mulch-cut by default, raise the deck in July and August so the lawn keeps moisture, and I edge and blow every visit. Bi-weekly is fine in winter dormancy.

  • Edging & Trimming

Power-edged borders along walks, drives, and beds. String-trimmed around fences, A/C pads, and the live oaks.

Clean, deliberate edges every visit so the lawn looks intentional from the curb. Careful trim work around the spots a 21-inch deck cannot reach — A/C condensers, mailbox posts, the chain-link the previous crew kept skipping. Final pass with the blower so nothing carries onto the patio or the street.

  • Leaf & Storm Cleanup

Pecan, live-oak, and water-oak leaves, plus whatever the last Gulf squall blew across the yard. Hauled off, not piled by the curb.

East-Houston yards drop leaves twice — light shed in spring with the live oaks and a heavier fall pass with the pecans and water oaks. After a tropical squall I clear branches and palm fronds before I mow so the deck does not catch anything. Debris hauled off; you do not pay the city to pick it up.

  • Bed Maintenance

Hand-pulled weeds in beds along the foundation, perennials trimmed at the right time of year — not the calendar.

Hand-pulled weeds (no glyphosate near the vegetables unless you ask), seasonal pruning timed to each plant, and a mulch top-up every spring and fall to keep the soil cool and the weeds smothered. Crepe myrtles get pruned right — no "crepe murder."

  • Mulch Refresh

Hardwood, cedar, or pine bark — installed at the right depth so beds look fresh and weeds stay down through August.

Bulk-delivered mulch hand-spread to a consistent 2 to 3 inches around plants, with a clean line against the lawn. I pull last year’s clumped mulch first if it has matted up, which it usually has after a wet Baytown spring.

  • Hedge & Shrub Trimming

Ligustrum, holly, boxwood, and the oleander your neighbor lets get away from them. Shaped clean, hauled off.

Shaped trim on the boxwoods and ligustrums most Baytown front yards run, plus heavier reductions on overgrown hollies and oleanders. Cuttings hauled, not bagged at the curb.

Most weekly customers add cleanups, mulch, and the odd hardscape job — there’s usually a flat-rate way to handle that.
